MyWam Specialised Wheelchairs Now Available at Barry

Barry’s range has been expanded with specialised wheelchairs from the Polish manufacturer MyWam, designed for children and adolescents with mobility limitations and a need for additional postural support.

MyWam specialised wheelchairs are designed to provide a safe and functional body position, maintain postural stability and facilitate mobility. Their construction and wide range of adjustment options allow the wheelchair to be adapted to the child’s anatomical characteristics, growth and individual functional needs.

Depending on the model, it is possible to adjust the seat depth and width, backrest height and angle, footrest position and height, as well as positioning elements for the head, trunk, pelvis and lower limbs. Some models also provide seat tilt and lying-position functions. These adjustment options allow the wheelchair to be more precisely adapted to the child’s postural needs and provide the required level of body support.

The range includes models for children and adolescents with different anthropometric parameters. The Barry range includes MEWA, ZEFIR, GRIZZLY, ALFA and YETI, as well as ALFA FLEX with the STABILO orthopedic cushion system. The system is designed to provide additional support and positioning for specific areas of the body, while the adjustable wheelchair construction allows it to be adapted as the child grows.

MyWam specialised wheelchairs may be used in various neurological, neuromuscular and orthopedic conditions, including cerebral palsy, spinal muscular atrophy, Spina bifida, paresis and paralysis, as well as weakness of the postural muscles. The suitability of a particular model and the required positioning components should be determined based on the child’s individual functional condition.

When selecting a wheelchair, it is important to consider the child’s anthropometric parameters, muscle tone, head and trunk control, ability to maintain a sitting position, pelvic and lower-limb alignment, as well as specific medical and rehabilitation goals.
